UPDATE: Emergency crews respond to single vehicle crash in View Royal

Driver transported to hospital with unknown injury

Emergency crews responded to a high-speed crash in View Royal on the Burnside Road off ramp of the Trans-Canada Highway shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday.

According to View Royal Fire Chief Paul Hurst, a single vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole before crashing into a drainage ditch filled with water.

The driver may have been suffering from a medical condition at the time of the crash and was transported to hospital as a precaution with unknown injuries.

The vehicle has been removed from the ditch by Westshore Towing and Mainroad South Island Contracting attended to deal with the downed pole.

The West Shore RCMP is investigating.
