Fire engulfs two homes on Sooke Road

Road closed in both directions as firefighters battle blaze

Firefighters from the area are responding to a house fire at 5158 Sooke Road. The road is closed in both directions.

Sooke Fire and Rescue along with the Otter Point, Shirley and Langford fire departments are at the scene of a fire at 5158 Sooke Road. Neighbours say that everything is burning and the blaze spread to an RV trailer, car and shed. It is also reported that another home is also on fire.

The fire started about 4:45 p.m. and it is believed there was no one in the homes at the time. A helicopter has been overseeing the fire to ensure it does not spread.

People have been advised that the road will be closed for some time and they are also asked not to use Gillespie Road as the fire trucks are getting water from East Sooke.
