Wildfires are a major risk for Sooke residents that live along the forest border.

To help mitigate the risk, the District of Sooke and the Union of B.C. Municipalities will host free online B.C. FireSmart sessions on how homeowners can better protect their properties. This spring, property owners can also book a free home assessment through Sooke Fire Rescue.

The online sessions are planned for Feb. 22 (10 a.m.), Feb. 24 (1 p.m.), March 21 (10 a.m.) and March 23 (1 p.m.).

Advanced registration is required. Please call Sooke Municipal Hall at 250-642-1634, Sooke Fire Hall at 250-642-5422, or online at sooke.ca. to register.
