Prospect Lake Road is now open after a “almost” head-on crash caused the road to be closed last night.

According to Julie Fast, Sargent and public information officer, a Nissan being driven by a 24-year-old male was turning the corner on the 4000-block of Prospect Lake Road at around 9:50 last night, the car crossed the centre lane and hit a Ford vehicle being driven by a 60-year-old woman.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital last night. The driver of the Ford has since been released but the driver of the Nissan remains in hospital in serious but stable condition.

A crash analyst was on scene for the two-vehicle collision which closed the road in both directions late Monday night and into Tuesday morning.

The roadway was closed between Munn Road and Woodsend Drive while Saanich Police investigated. The roadway reopened at approximately 4:15 a.m. Tuesday.

According to reports, the crash happened around 9:50 p.m. Monday night.
