Fans of hard-to-find videos are paying tribute after Victoria’s “deepest video library” announced it was going to be shutting down later this year.
Pic-A-Flic Video at 1519 Pandora Ave. announced on Instagram Tuesday that it will be closing its doors.
“Sorry everybody,” says the post. “It’s what you’re all afraid would happen.”
Pic-A-Flic Video will be closing at the end of September, with the Instagram video saying that the store’s lease is up and that the business can’t continue.
The business is known for its amazing collection of movies, with more than 25,000 titles, from Icelandic dramas, cult sci-fi, rare documentaries, independent animation, music concerts to 1930s detective movies.
A devoted following of fans immediately starting posting tributes on Instagram.
“I’m so sorry,” wrote one fan. “You’ll be sorely missed in the neighbourhood. Truly one of my favourite places. Thank you for keeping the love of film alive for so long.”
“Heartbreaking - you guys are just such an amazing party of the community,” posted Chris Haska.
