Heavy rains cause unstable slopes between Saanich’s Arbutus Cove and Hollydene parks

Public asked to avoid waterfront area as crews assess safety

Saanich police are warning that erosion from recent rainfall has caused unstable slopes between Arbutus Cove and Hollydene parks.

Emergency crews were at the waterfront area between the parks just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Saanich’s engineering department is also assessing the damage to determine if there are any safety concerns due to the unstable slopes.

Saanich police are asking the public to avoid the area until the assessment is complete.

Nobody has been injured, police said.
