Island Health declared COVID-19 outbreaks at three more long-term care homes in Greater Victoria Tuesday.
At Veterans Memorial Lodge in Saanich, four residents have tested positive for the virus as of Jan. 18. Island Health said the outbreak is contained to units B3 and A2 for now.
In Esquimalt, 11 residents at The Salvation Army Sunset Lodge have COVID-19. There, Island Health says the outbreak has been limited to the third floor.
Lastly, at the Sidney Care Home, one resident has tested positive.
Island Health also said outbreaks at the Selkirk Seniors Village long-term care home and Selkirk Seniors Village assisted living facility are over as of Jan. 18. One resident tested positive in each outbreak.
All long-term care cases announced by Island Health Tuesday have been confirmed either through PCR testing or through the authority’s case and contact management team.
At each facility, Island Health said no transfers are being made or group activities allowed in the affected units, staff movements are being limited wherever possible, and COVID tests are being distributed “as determined by the medical health officer and infection prevention and control” protocols.
Only essential visitors are allowed in Island Health care homes according to provincial health policy, including at long-term care homes facing outbreaks.
