K9 search leads to arrest of assault suspect in Victoria

Search launched after report of an assault at a residence on Haultain

An assault suspect is in custody after a brief search by patrol and K9 officers in Victoria Wednesday night.

Officers were called to the 1000-block of Haultain Street just after 10 p.m. Wednesday for a report of an assault that had taken place at a residence.

When officers arrived the suspect had fled the scene.

Patrol officers flooded the area, set up containment and called in VicPD K9 officers for assistance in searching for the suspect.

Officers found the man following a brief search and he was taken into custody without further incident.

The man remains in custody until a court appearance Thursday morning.

The victim declined medical treatment.
