UPDATE: Man wanted Canada-wide arrested in Victoria on April 8

Christopher Gaudet was wanted after his statutory release was suspended

A man with a Canda-wide warrant was arrested in Victoria on Friday.

Christopher Gaudet was the subject of a wanted person alert on Thursday (April 7) and was arrested just after 5:30 p.m. on April 8.

Officers found Guadet in a suite in the 1900-block of Ashgrove Street before police said he fled the area on foot. He was arrested by members of the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team in the area of Shakespeare Street and Gladstone Avenue.

Gaudet is serving a federal sentence of more than three years for possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, kidnapping while using a firearm and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. A Canada-wide warrant for him was issued after Gaudet’s statutory release was suspended.

He remained in custody as of April 8.
