Nomination packages for this fall’s civic election are available at Sooke Muncipal Hall if you’re planning to run for council or in the Juan de Fuca Electoral Area. For those seeking a seat on the board of education, packages are available at the Sooke School District office, 3143 Jacklin Rd. in Langford.
You don’t have to be a resident of Sooke to run in a local election, but you must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years or older on election day (Oct. 20), and a resident of B.C. for the last six months.
All campaign financing is administered by Elections B.C.. Nominations must be submitted between 9 a.m. Sept. 4 and 4 p.m. Sept. 14.
