Sooke celebrities are not participating in McHappy Day today.

“We sent out emails, but unfortunately we haven’t heard back from anyone,” said a Sooke McDonald’s employee.

Sooke Mayor Maja Tait said she did not receive an email to the event.

McDonald’s restaurants across B.C. are joining 1,400 restaurants across the country in donating $1 from every Big Mac, Happy Meal or hot McCafe beverage to children’s charities.

In its 41 years, the event has raised more than $67 million for charities including the Ronald McDonald House.

Sooke Fire Rescue and RCMP were unable to attend.

There has been no update as to whether any other Sooke personality will make an appearance.
