A local resident has arson charges being recommended against her for the second time.

Oak Bay Police and Fire attended a call for a car cover on fire on Jan. 7. The car was located within a carport on Frederick Norris Road. Officers arrested a 25-year-old female who was known to them, as they recommended arson charges against her previously for fires set in the same area.

“We have no reason to believe anyone was specifically targeted,” said Deputy Chief Ray Bernoties. “She’s being held in custody until the 15th when she’s scheduled to appear in court.”

No one was injured during the incident.
