New Democrat MP Randall Garrison has been re-elected in the new riding of Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke, but party failed to win the election and lost ground across the nation.

In the lead-up to to the election, the New Democrats were poised to form government leading most political polls heading into the election.

Liberal Dave Marner placed second and Green Litman was a distant third, trailed by the Conservatives’ Shari Lukens in the Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke race.
