Saanich Police Department is reminded the public to use “extreme caution” while driving throughout the region Monday morning.
On the 1800-block of Munn Road alone, Saanich police said they responded to a number of incidents of drivers losing control on black ice – several of whom landed in the ditch. “No injuries were reported, but the road conditions are causing some delay while police stand by for salt and tow trucks,” they said in a Jan. 3 press release.
Dangerously slick conditions have also been reported on Hartland Road, where garbage collection trucks reportedly slid downhill while making runs to the nearby CRD landfill.
“Saanich police ask that the public exercise caution on local roadways this morning, as it is apparent that winter weather is still a factor,” said the release.
