Sooke council sponsors charity events

Councillors back Sooke Saltwater Series, car show

Two community groups are receiving sponsorship funding from Sooke council.

The Sooke Saltwater Series Series presents three well-established fishing derbies every year: the Halibut Derby, Coho Derby and Sooke Boxing Day Derby.

Council is giving $2,500 to the group, which donates annually to Sooke Food Bank, Sooke Salmon Enhancement Society, Charters Creek Interpretive Centre and South Vancouver Island Angler’s Coalition.

Council also gave $100 to the Sooke Fall Fair for its annual car show. The car show is held July 22.
