Sooke Fire rescue is getting a new fire truck.
On Monday, Sooke councillors approved the purchase of a new water tanker for $366,449 from Fort Garry Industries.
The truck will replace an aging water tanker that is past its life expectancy.
“The Sooke Fire Rescue department requires a new water tender apparatus to perform essential duties associated with fire suppression,” a district staff reported stated.
The truck will allow fire crews to get water into an area that doesn’t have fire hydrants or other on-site water sources.
Four bids were received from the district for the new truck ranging in price from $351,742 to $427,950.
Delivery of the truck is expected in nine months.
