District of Sooke council is eyeing the possibility of hosting the 2018 Tourism Vancouver Island Conference and AGM.

Tourism Vancouver Island is seeking bids from municipalities, and Sooke council has asked municipal staff to prepare a report for hosting the event.

The conference is a three-day event for tourism stakeholders of all sectors within the Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands region, about 150 people attend every year.

If Sooke goes ahead with the conference, it must file a letter of intent by Jan. 27 and a final proposal submission on March 1.

This year’s Tourism Vancouver Island Conference and AGM will be held in Sidney next October.
