VIDEO: RCMP respond to rollover on Sooke Road

Driver has been taken in to custody for possible impaired driving

Traffic was delayed in both directions on Sooke Road Thursday afternoon after a vehicle left the road and crashed through a fence.

At approximately 1:30 pm today, Sooke RCMP responded to the single-vehicle accident, where a Jeep was found on its side in a ditch.

Witnesses say the red Jeep was travelling at excessive speed heading towards Sooke, and was swerved “all over the road” before hitting a hydro pole and rolling into the ditch.

The male driver was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. He is the only person believed to have been involved in the accident, and has been taken in to custody by the RCMP.
