Crews continue to work on a series of power outages around Greater Victoria, largely caused by Wednesday night’s snow storm.
Power to a number of the more than 3,000 customers affected Friday has been restored, but as of 3:30 p.m. just over 1,700 remained without power, according to according to BC Hydro’s website.
The largest outage, affecting 1,158 customers between Metchosin and East Sooke, was projected to be restored at around 3:30 p.m. and spans from east of Possession Point Road and south of Sooke Road.
Other outages still outstanding included one affecting 368 customers north of Woodley Ghyll Drive, west of Derrien Place, east of Nagle Road and south of Sooke Road, which was estimated to be restored by 6 p.m.
Power is expected to be down until 5:10 p.m. for 131 Sooke customers east of Tugwell Road, north of Otter Point Road and west of Butler Road, along with 62 impacted in the 2500-3000 block of Phillips Road.
The current list also included several smaller outages affecting a handful of homes in Sooke and Highlands.
Among those outages restored Friday include one in Colwood, Langford and Metchosin that left 703 customers without power, a 225-customer failure in Sooke north of Shambrook Drive caused by trees across wires; a 91-customer outage in Oak Bay east of Monteith Street, north of San Carlos Avenue, south of Bowker Avenue and west of Esplanade; and a 92-customer outage in Central Saanich also caused by trees falling on power lines.
Other smaller outages resolved Friday happened in Saanich, Sooke, Langford, Salt Spring Island and other Gulf Islands.
In all cases, the snowstorm is listed as the cause of the outages.
