Three-year-old Tianna Karczmarek has a pre-race moment with most-of-a-boat-full of toy ducks, Saturday on the shore of the Sooke River.
About 2,000 ducks hit the rinse in the fifth annual charitable fundraiser, staged by the Sooke Harbourside Lions Club.
The effort, was helped out tremendously by a number of recreational kayakers who paddled and hustled to round up rogue fowl which may have otherwise slipped away.
The gross amount raised, according to organizers, was in the neighbourhood of $8,000.
