Ada died peacefully at home with family at her side. Ada lived a life of devotion and service to God, her family, and untold others. She was a kind, generous, gentle and loving woman.
A hard worker ~ full of energy, stamina, determination and sensitivity ~ and a shy proper lady, she quietly shared her unique humour full of joy and playfulness.
Born in Lethbridge, Ada moved to Sooke River Rd as a youngster, finishing Sooke Elementary and Edward Milne schools early. Waiting to be old enough to start post- secondary maths/sciences, Ada worked at the Dockyards where she met lifelong friend Sylvia (Bert) and was fatefully introduced to Syl's brother Richie. This led to a different path, marrying the love of her life and having a family. Once her own children were nearly grown, Ada fostered kids of all ages before 'adopting' her 5th child.
Besides formative years in Sooke, Ada lived briefly in Victoria & 24 years in Castlegar, returning to Sooke (Otter Point) in 1993.
Her greatest passions & joys were in caring for others. An accomplished baker and excellent cook & host, Ada fed, housed & served countless people in her home and community. Ada's Church and local Meals on Wheels, Food Bank and Fall Fair (prize winner & judge) are just some of many who benefited from her life of service.
Ada is survived by: loving husband Richie (m 63 years); children Lynn (Tom), Teresa (Phil), Karen (Dave), Kevin; grandchildren Katrina (Tanner), Jeni, Jeremiah (Abby), Michael (Elizabeth), Janoah (Beau), Joseph, Allie, Chris, Kadin (Pippa), Raena, Garrett, Wyatt, Juliette; great grandchildren Declan, Talon, Oliver, Brooklyn; siblings Marj, Mel (Irene), and many in- laws, nieces, nephews and their families.
Ada is now joyfully reunited with daughter Andrea, parents Sam & Rosada, brother Grant and sister-in-law Mary.
Ada's family would like to thank all those involved in her care. You have been a blessing to her and to us, especially over these past months.
If you would like to make a donation in honour of Ada please consider Sooke's Food Bank or Meals on Wheels. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
She was dearly loved and will be missed.
