November 27, 1930 - October 13, 2018
On Saturday, October 13, 2018 Barry Baldwin, age 87, died peacefully surrounded by the Spirit, loved by his family and compassionately cared for by the staff at Luther Court. Barry is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Laura Anne and daughter Karen (Kim) and granddaughter Rowan and from his first marriage his son Keith (Susan) and grandson Geoffrey (Kendra) and daughter Leslie (Ivan) and grandson Matthew (TJ). He is predeceased by his youngest son, David.

Barry was born November 27th, 1930 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He spent his early years on the prairie and moved to Vancouver in his teens. He graduated from Lord Byng High School and UBC with Bachelor of Commerce. He worked in sales throughout his career. He and Laura moved to Sooke in 1990 and in 2013 they moved into Victoria.

Barry was the quintessential "energizer bunny" always leaping up to run an errand, take care of a task around the garden or the neighbourhood, helping out family and friends. He was curious and friendly to everyone he met and was the first one to strike up a conversation in a crowded room.

When Barry and Laura retired to Sooke he kept busy volunteering with COPS and did maintenance at the Sooke Pentecostal Housing Society. Barry loved walking on the Whiffen Spit with Laura and their dogs.

He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. In his honour, please be friendly and kind to all you meet. Ask questions. Be curious.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 20th at 3 pm at the Lutheran Church of the Cross at 3787 Cedar Hill Rd. Victoria. Reverend Lyle McKenzie will officiate.

Donations can be made to the Luther Court Society in his memory.
