Betty passed away peacefully in her 91st year at the Priory Hospital, Victoria, B.C. Pre-deceased by parents (William and Ada Sheppard), brother Bill and sister, Gloria Clark.
Born in Toronto and obtained her nursing degree in Sudbury. Betty spent her life in service to others as head OR nurse at 2 Toronto hospitals, and short term nursing positions in London, Eng., Detroit and later in Collingwood. Happily retired in Sooke, B.C. where she cared for her mother.
Betty was an avid sports fan and participant beginning at age 16 as pitcher in a Toronto women's baseball league. Won awards for knitting and crocheted hundreds of newborn hats for donation.
Those who knew her will remember her as a formidable card player, and will miss her sense of humour and brilliant smile!
At her request, no funeral service is planned. Donations to Greater Victoria Eldercare Foundation (for the Priory Hospital) or Alzheimer Society may be made in her honour.
