passed away peacefully at home on September, 4, 2009.
Born in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec June 13, 1948, Carl was raised in Hinton, Alberta and moved to Vancouver Island at the age of 17.
Carl took up residence in Sooke in 1979 where he established and operated Creative Upholstery for more than 30 years.
Carl displayed the mark of excellence through his trade. He truly was an artist with his hands. Members of the community knew that their beloved pieces would be rejuvenated with skill and dedication.
Carl was known for his love of nature and the outdoors, his sense of humour and kindness to all.
Predeceased by his parents Pauline and Nils and brother-in-law Gerry Chalender, Carl leaves behind his loving family; wife Elleen, daughters Tina (Brett) and Angela, son Christian, grandchildren, Sean, Cole, and Connor, brother Peter (Barbara), sisters Evelyn Hobbs (John) and Vivian MacDonald, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. His memory will be in our hearts forever.
A special thank you to the nursing staff on 4A VGH for their care and compassion during Carl’s extended hospitalization, and also to Dr. Rabien and Sooke Hospice for Carl’s care at home.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Sooke Kingdom Hall, 2207 Church Road.
