Darrell Danyluck passed away at home with his wife of 40 years Beverly and his friend/brother in law John at his side after a battle with cancer.

He is predeceased by his parents and eldest brother Gerald and survived by siblings Robert, Shirley, twin sister Darlene, Ted, Bill, Penny, David and many nieces and nephews.

Darrell was born in Esquimalt in an era when childhood meant being outside building forts and sailing rafts at the beach, giving him a love of nature that he never lost. He was proud of the home that he and Bev built in East Sooke, loving the property and wildlife surrounding it and said many times that he felt so very fortunate.

He loved to travel but his true joy was fishing, both commercially as a young man and later with friends trolling for the big smiley which he managed to reel in more than once.

Darrell worked at several jobs in his life but the one that truly defined him was his 34 years as a B.C. Transit operator. After he retired he was often greeting with "hello driver" by passers by who remembered him as the man who always said good morning, loved to chat and got them safely to their destination.

Both his and Bev's families and his many friends will miss his sense of humour and enthusiasm, we will all treasure the happy memories of which there are so many.

Many thanks to Dr. Keith Losie, Community Health Nurses, Sooke Hospice and Beacon Homecare.

A Celebration of Darrell's life will be held at a later date.
