In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of George, a dependent of the Charters families who were homesteaders and pioneers of Sooke in 1863. He was one of 7 children of Stanley and Nellie Carlow of Sooke B.C.
He was predeceased by his parents and brother's Stanley (Napanee Ont.), Wesley (Sybil Invermer B.C.), Robert Chemainus B.C., Sister's Dorthea (John Powell River B.C.) Jessie (David Cobble Hill B.C.)
George left Sooke as a young man of 20 to work at the Alcan Aluminum Smelter in Kitimat B.C. where he resided till his passing.
George loved nature and spent most of his spare time in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and liked to tell of some of his episodes in the wilds of Northern B. C. and Haida Gwaii.
He carried his camera with him and has many photos of Kitimat as it was growing and expanding and also his trips into the wilds. George was also a very generous man, if you needed anything he would help out and give what he could.
George will be sadly missed by his remaining sibling, brother Harold (Phyllis ) of Ladysmith B.C. and many of his nephews and nieces in B. C. and Alberta, and all who knew and appreciated his thoughtfulness and unassuming manner.
George's family would like to acknowledge and thank his friend Colin Light of Kitimat for his camaraderie and help to George over the years, also John Pozgay of Johns Contracting in George's time of need.
We would also like to thank all his Doctors and Nurses at the Kitimat Hospital and all the staff at Northern Health, Delta King and Mountain View Lodge Senior Homes for their special care, kindness and consideration to George.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic there will be no service at this time.
