GARDNER, KAREN “LYNN” (ALLIN) from Quesnel

January 30, 1963 - July 13, 2017

It is with extreme sadness, and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Karen “Lynn” Gardner.

Loving and devoted wife to Jamie Allin and a wonderful mom to Gregory and step children Hal and Mike (Tina).

Lynn and Jamie married July 3rd 1999 in Quesnel B.C. and then returned to Sooke B.C. to have their son Gregory and raise Jamie’s two children Hal and Mike.

Lynn worked at Rocky Point DND for 30 years and had many co-workers she’s proud to call friends. She saw the need of a handicapped playground in the Sooke area and ultimately organized one to be built at Saseenos Elementary School. She was also the instrumental leader at Luxton Fairgrounds when she would organize one day every year for special needs people to enjoy the rides and have a free hot dog... This was a huge passion in Lynn’s life as she often volunteered her time and energy for the handicapped.

She was a member of Cross Roads International, Canadian Progress Club, United Way Leader Committee Member, a Sooke Harbourside Lions Club member and a member of the Sooke Legion Branch #54.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed the warm sunshine with a cold margarita. She most loved travelling to visit family and close friends. She also really enjoyed Port Townsend and Port Angeles to partake in festivals with Jamie and Gregory... She enjoyed her RV unit at Beaver Lake in Lake Cowichan and her little dog Christy.

Lynn definitely knew how to have fun and where to find it.

Lynn was an only child and is survived by mother Joan (step-father Bill Crook), predeased by father Laurence, as well she was a step-sister to Glen Crook (Mary) and Brenda MacKay (Gerry) She leaves behind many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Lynn will be sadly missed by her mother in law Gwen Bavin, step brother Greg Allin (Becky), good friends Lorinda Dion, Mara Morrison, Sheryl Latimer, Dawn Gardner and many many more.

Please join us at 1:00 Sat. July 22nd at the Sooke Community Hall to commemorate Lynn’s life.

In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Sooke Harbourside Lions, United Way, or the Sooke Community Food Bank.
