Laurie Pauline Attard

November 27, 1956 – February 4, 2017

Laurie passed away peacefully at home on February 4, 2017, at the age of 60. She was born in Thetford Mines, Quebec, the fifth of seven siblings, and for the past 22 years has made her home in Sooke.

Singing was one of Laurie’s passions and she had an amazing voice. She was a proud member of the Sweet Adelines community (women’s barbershop harmony), and her chorus, the Victoria City of Gardens, won the gold medal at the 2014 international competition in Baltimore, Maryland. Laurie also loved travelling and will be remembered for her kindness, her warmth, and her sense of humour.

She is predeceased by her parents, Howard and Della Woody. She is greatly missed by her husband of 32 years, Michael; her children Sarah (Steven) Snow, Andrew (Kelsey), and Ashley (Kyle) Connick; her grandchildren Jaxon, Parker, and Erica; her siblings Tannis Falkenberg, Debbie (Wulf) Schlueter, Shelley Huband, Sharon (Peter) Muckle, Danna Woody, and Paul (Jacquie) Woody; her parents-in-law Oscar and Mary; her sister-in-law Anna; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Laurie’s funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 11, 11:00 am, at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church (2191 Townsend Road, Sooke). Memorial donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation or the charity of one’s choice. The family would like to especially thank the doctors and nurses at the Victoria Cancer Clinic, Dr. Pocock of Sooke, and Sooke Hospice.
