It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Len. He leaves behind a loving family. His wife of 63 years, Dorene, his children Wendy Hales (Ken) Susan Pliszka (John), Brenda Hay, and Donald Jones (Stephanie), his grandchildren Becky (Kevin), Gillian, Lindsay, Nichole, Meghan (Jed), David, Kyle (Kirsten) and three great grandchildren; his brother Gary Jones (Audrey) and numerous nieces and nephews. Len was predeceased by his twin brother Stan and sisters- in-law Marion and Carol.

Other than the years Len served in the North Atlantic on a Corvette Len spent his entire life in Sooke. Upon his return he met and married the love of his life Dorene. Together they raised their family and were active members of their community. As an extremely involved community member Len generously dedicated his time to the welfare of the people of Sooke. Besides being a huge influence within the Sooke Logging industry, Len spent his time volunteering for the Sooke Community Association, the School Board and the Volunteer Fire Department serving as Fire Chief for several terms. His love of gardening was evident in winning the ongoing tomato competitions with his friends. Len was one of the original “Sooke Old Timers” and proud of it.

While he was proud to be a part of the Sooke Community, Len was most proud of his family. He taught that Love, Family, Respect, Honesty and Trust were values to live by and he did this every day. He always said “hold your head up high, never leave with regrets, and stand by the ones you love.” Len left with no regrets. He was loved and cherished by a family who were all proud of him and feel privileged to have been part of his life.

Anyone who knew Len would say that he was a true gentleman.
