Les was born in Moosejaw Saskatchewan to Fred and Annie Tickner.

He was predeceased bu his dear sister Alice May in 1926 and his brother Alfred.

Les is survived by his loving wife Florence and their 3 children - Edward (Chris); Michael (Donna); Susan (Rob) as well as 6 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Stanley (Avis) in Moosejaw and his sister in-law Jean in Ottawa and sister in-law Barbara in Williams Lake.

Les served in the Navy from 1944-1946 on HMCS Buckingham. He worked as a Marine Radio Operator for 34 years, finally retiring in Sooke in 1983 as the OIC of Victoria Coastguard Radio.

Les married Flo in 1955. They were married for 59 years.

In his retirement Les generously volunteered in the Sooke community including the Sooke Elderly Citizen’s Housing Society, Food Bank, Jack Brooks Fish Hatchery & the Holy Trinity Church.

Les will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A service was held on March 29 at 3:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Anglican Church 1962 Murray Rd. in Sooke.
