It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Martin (Marty) John David Ferguson at age 67. Martin lived in Sooke with his long-time partner Gerry Lynn Simpson for 35 years.
He is also survived by his brother Matt Ferguson (Loree) of Sooke, his sisters Amanda Jones (Allen) of Richmond, Lisa Gledstone (Terry) of Cloverdale and 7 nieces and 1 nephew and was great uncle to 3 nieces and 2 nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Doris and Ray Ferguson.
Marty was born in Southend-On-Sea, Essex, England on September 23, 1955 and moved to Canada with his family in 1968. He was a smart, witty and talented guy with a love for fishing, reading, golf (both watching and playing) and watching classic movies. He worked in the construction business including building log homes and eventually supervising the construction of roads and infrastructure for new residential neighbourhoods around Sooke. Several former employees expressed how much he was loved as a boss.
Marty was a humble guy with a great smile who touched more people in his life than he realized. He will be greatly missed by his family and we will remember all the good times with Marty on the golf course, on the boat, at the weddings of his siblings, nieces and nephew, at anniversary celebrations and birthdays and Christmas get-togethers.
We love you Marty, you will be forever in our hearts.
