Matthias Cornelius Kroppmanns passed away at home on the 10th of September after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Germany and came to Canada in 1953 as a qualified Master Stone Mason. He worked in his Trade in Thunder Bay Ontario and surrounding area. He married his first wife Inge, and had three children. In 1956 he moved to Victoria B.C where he foundet his own company.

In 1973 he moved with his family to Sooke where he acquired a piece of land and built his home. Later he married his second wife Gerda. Matt and Gerda enjoyed working together and made the property into a wonderful place to live surrounded by forest and wildlife.

At this point I would like to thank Dr. Ian McNight for taking such good care of Matt, you are a great Doctor, in Matts words "The Best", and a very special thank you to the staff at West Coast medical for all your help.

And also, a thank you to Sarah his granddaughter for taking him to all his appointments over the last 8 years, and great granddaughter Faylee, who made him happy seeing her grow up from a 1 year old.

Matt is survived by his wife Gerda, brother Heinz-Josef (Hermine) Kroppmanns, son Ken Kroppmanns (Becky), daughter Linda (Dave) Bloom, son Dale Kroppmanns (Allison), granddaughter Rockell (Nick), grandson Matt, granddaughter Rina, niece Donna (Doug), nephew David (Barb), niece Doris, nephew Rob, nephew Herald (Ute) Kroppmanns.

Matt and Gerda also opened their home to Gerdas granddaughter Sarah and great granddaughter Faylee, when she was 1 year old (now 11).

Rest in peace Matt, you were a great man. You helped everyone in need. You will be in our hearts and memory forever.

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
