With sadness, we announce the passing of Randall (Randy) Allen Strom. Born in Victoria, B.C., on January 15, 1961, Randy passed away peacefully in Victoria, February 25, 2025.
The youngest child of Marg (née McPherson) and Bud (Everett) Strom, Randy was predeceased by his parents, his older brother, Roly (Roland) Strom and nephew Ewen Strom. He leaves behind his son, Ryan Strom, Ryan's mom, Laura, as well as his sister, Wendy, her spouse, Rod, and niece Rhianna. He also leaves behind many friends, and extended family.
Randy was an Islander, through and through, growing up in Victoria, Mill Bay, and Sooke. He worked primarily in logging but also spent some time roofing, a little commercial fishing, and even some bricklaying.
When he wasn't working, he was hanging out with buddies and either tinkering with something mechanical, riding motorcycles, or "gone fishing".
Randy's life took a sharp turn when a motorcycle accident left him a quadriplegic. He made peace with his new reality and somehow always managed to keep a positive attitude.
He was 1 of the first residents to move into Ayre Manor, and was his home for the last 17 years. Staff always treated him like family, and their care and friendships were important and appreciated by Randy.
As per Randy's wishes, there will be no formal service—he never was one for unnecessary fuss. If you'd like to honour his memory, consider making a monetary donation or donation of time to Ayre Manor.
The family thanks all those who cared for Randy.
