In Loving Memory ~
Sally Bennett passed away Friday, October 25 2024 surrounded by family in her home in Sooke, BC.
A special thanks to the Sooke Palliative Care Team for their amazing involvement, specifically her palliative nurse, Trish, who took care of all her physical needs and her children's emotional needs, truly above and beyond!
Elderdog dog-walking volunteer services for allowing her to keep her very-spoiled dog Dexter in her care until the end, who offered her endless comfort. Sooke Meals on Wheels for making everyone's lives easier during her care, the Sooke Loan Cupboard for providing equipment to allow her the ability to live out her days in her residence, as per her wishes.
Born Sarah Lillianne Scantlebury in Toronto March 26, 1951, she was 73 years old. Sally was the middle child of a family of 5 siblings (Jerry, Steve, Valerie, and Patrick) to Daphne (Holmes) Scantlebury and John Scantlebury. She studied at the university of Toronto and received a degree in both Occupational and Physiotherapy in 1973.
She married her late husband, Roderick Charles Bennett and had two children, Andrea Lynne Bennett and Ryan John Bennett. She had 4 grandchildren from her daughter Andrea; Tyler and Makayla, Kenny and Justin.
She lived most of her life in Ontario, working full time as a physiotherapist until she moved to Sooke in 2012. In Sooke she volunteered at and ran the Loan Cupboard for 10 years assisting the volunteer organization in their mandate to provide medical equipment to the community of Sooke. She thrived in the environment and loved her time in Sooke, feeling she was part of the community was exceptionally rewarding to her, and she made many associations and wonderful friendships.
She loved her family and was a loyal friend. Her capacity for empathy, her nurturing nature, and upbeat sense of humour made her good company. She taught her children unconditional love, and lead by example. She will be deeply missed by all her loved ones and friends.
In lieu of flowers, she would have been thrilled to garner any donations for the Sooke Loan Cupboard.
Donations to the Loan Cupboard can be made in person at the Sooke Community Hall or over the phone at 250.389.4607
