Stuart Bruce Cumming passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 19th, 2023 surrounded by his family.
Born July 24th, 1933 in Williams Lake B.C. where he spent most summers on the family ranch. In 1957 he took a job at a mine in Northern Ontario where he met and married Gerry Houle. They moved to North Vancouver and eventually settled in Sooke in 1960.
Stuart and Gerry opened an ice cream store in the early 60s and then his true passion for construction took over. Stuart spent his whole life in the construction industry. His greatest joy in later years was watching his grandchildren grow up and become adults. He loved driving the property in his golf cart, visiting with his great-grandchildren and always being surrounded by his family.
Stuart was predeceased by his oldest son Jamie. He is survived by his wife Gerry, his children Laurie Wallace (Brian), Bruce Cumming (Kim), Cathy Brooks (Kieth), his grandchildren, Jason and Nicki, Desiree and Sydney, Craig, Shannon and Jeremy and his 16 great-grandchildren.
No service by request, instead a private get-together for the family will take place at a later date.
Rest easy now and know you left a legacy of family and love!
