She came to Canada from Germany, just married, aboard the Seven Seas in 1961 and began a great new adventure.
Within a few years, Mom and Dad, now with 2 daughters and a family dog, ventured across Canada in a camperized VW van stopping at every interesting place along the way.
Among her many talents, Mom was quite the artist, winning first place at an Ontario Art Exhibit, so it was only natural to paint along the way and sell paintings at exhibitions or on the roadside.
Eventually, after travelling across the country and then living on the west coast, our family finally settled in Sooke in 1972. Having an art and antique store for many years, Mom met and befriended many.
Mom was the life of the party. She could sing, dance and play music, which was often on a harmonica or paper covered comb. The sparkle in her eyes, her kind words and big smile magnetized all, especially the grandchildren and her little critters (the great grandchildren).
She loved her daily walks on the Goose Trail, stopping to chat with everyone along the way.
She will be forever missed and fondly remembered by her husband Helmut, daughters, Sylvia (Jens) and Corinna (Michael), grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and family in Germany.
