LETTER: Local businesses support community

Harmony Project Sooke held a beer and burger night on Nov. 25 to raise funds for providing musical instruments and instruction to youth in Sooke.

It was a fun evening. Families and friends socialized and heard some talented local young musicians perform.

What’s striking is that HPS is just one of many good causes which appeal to the businesses and individuals in our community – and they continually respond with generosity. How wonderful to live in a community that cares about and supports the artistic, cultural, and athletic endeavours of our youth.

When we’re doing our Christmas shopping, we might keep in mind how local businesses contribute to the well being of our community – as compared to, say, the big chains and Amazon?
