I am of British descendency but like Coun. Tony St-Pierre I cannot swear allegiance to the Queen.
The monarchy is an archaic, elitist body which I believe cannot truly represent a democratic structure. We are a nation unto ourselves made up of citizens of many nationalities. I expect our citizen’s allegiance to be to Canada as a nation.
