Time to restore wildlife balance

It appears we have a problem with urban deer, urban rabbits and urban geese. Well, actually they are rural animals forced into an urban environment. They adjust to their shrinking habitat and we have only ourselves to blame. With our rush to develop vast tracts of rural land, we displace these creatures and then complain that they have become a nuisance. They just keep on in the natural order of things. Their trails are ingrained in their genetic codes and they just keep on going where they’ve always gone. They eat everything, they leave their droppings behind and they do as the please.

Elections are looming

It is becoming pretty obvious that a federal election is in the offing. The television ads are already berating the obvious candidates and it is going to get nasty. Add to that the provincial and municipal elections and we are in for a whole lot of electioneering. The leadership candidates for both provincial parties are already making a whole lot of promises.

Round and round we go

The construction and paving of the new entrance to Evergreen centre took a considerable length of time but it is now half done. It’s great having a nice smooth asphalt surface but we’re sitting here looking out the window waiting for the first fender bender. We need directional and stop signs in place now, not later. The roadway bottlenecks and the entrance/exit to the parking lot in front of the Royal Bank is confusing. Let’s fix it before someone gets hurt.
