Brayden Friesen of Sooke has his home base at the Juan de Fuca BMX track in Colwood.

Three athletes who train at the Juan de Fuca BMX track are taking their talents to South Carolina, and the broader community has a chance to support those efforts by attending a gala fundraiser dinner.

Janel Church, Dominic Buch and Brayden Friesen, from Metchosin, Colwood and Sooke, respectively, have honed their skills at the West Shore track and qualified for a place at the 2017 BMX World Championships this July.

The gala fundraiser being held on their behalf happens Saturday, Apr. 1 at the Pacific Fleet Club at CFB Esquimalt. It features a prime rib buffet dinner, cash bar, silent auction and live music with a DJ. For ticket and sponsorship information, visit the event's Facebook page at bit.ly/2lzxHXP.
