Midget Female Thunderbirds earn berth in Island playdowns

Sooke Thunderbirds Midget Female team earned 11 of a possible 12 point in the last four games of the season to advance to the Island championships in Parksville this weekend.

The locals beat Nanaimo 9-6 on Saturday in the Harbour City to make the playoffs by one point.

The Thunderbirds held leads of 2-1 after one and 4-3 after two, and outscored Nanaimo 5-3 in a wide open third period. Hailey Dimock and Alyssa Lloyd had three goals each. Kaillee Purnell had two and Olivia Carello had one.
