The Victoria Grizzlies are gearing up for the season and will be playing their annual exhibition game in Sooke against the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Sept. 1.

The event is hosted by Sooke Rotary Club, with proceeds going to local youth programs.

John Topolniski, past president of the Sooke Rotary Club and this year’s organizer of the game, said the event is a great, and affordable way for families to spend an afternoon.

The puck drops at 2 p.m. at SEAPARC arena. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 5 to 17 are available at SEAPARC and Shoppers Drug Mart. Children under four years old are free.

A tailgate party is taking place before the game, where the community has the chance to meet with Grizzly players and get autographs. The breakfast party takes place at 10:00 a.m. outside the A&W in Sooke.

Proceeds from those who buy breakfast will also go towards the Rotary Club.
