A new scholarship has been launched to acknowledge a student who has demonstrated a commitment to promoting the positive inclusion of those with special needs at home, at school, or in the community.

The inaugural Sooke Autism Support Society Inclusion Awesomeness Recognition Scholarship is now accepting applications. The $500 scholarship is open to a graduating student from Edward Milne Community School.

The recipient of the scholarship will be an individual who is “exceptionally kind, giving and compassionate – they have a profound impact on those with special needs, the families of those with special needs and the entire community,” said the Sooke Autism Support Society in a press release.

The scholarship application deadline is April 30.
