A little dirt never hurt anyone.

SEAPARC is gearing up to host its fourth annual Mud Run on June 10.

The course takes about 20 minutes to complete, following along the path of trails, through the bike park, and up to a gravel parking lot.

“It’s such a great event,” said Elizabeth Olsen, an organizer of the event. “The kids can do the course as many times as they want.”

Throughout the course there are different obstacles. For example, at certain points the kids will be splashed with things like flower or water, and have to crawl on their stomachs through mud trenches.

“We wanted to hold an activity for kids where they could just get outdoors, play in the mud and have a ton of fun,” said Olsen, explaining how the Mud Run first started.

The event is aimed for youth ages five to 13, but families and parents are allowed to participate. Everyone who wishes to participate are required to register ahead of time.

Last year, 124 kids registered for the event.

The event costs $10 per person and runs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Register by going online to the SEAPARC website, or call 250-642-8000.
