CIVIC ELECTION: Candidates line up for municipal vote

Newcomers, incumbents throw name into contest

The civic election scene in Sooke is heating up, with the nomination period opening Tuesday.

So far, six people have declared their intention to seek a council seat, while two are running for mayor.

• Sept. 22 to Oct. 20 – Campaign period

• Oct. 10 and 17 – Advance voting (Sooke Community Hall, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.)

• Oct. 11 – All-candidates meeting (Prestige Oceanfront Resort, 7 p.m.)

• Oct. 20 – General Voting Day (Edward Milne community school, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.)

• Oct. 24 – Declaration of official results
