Poor road conditions may keep Sooke Disposal from picking up some residents’ garbage.

Owner Jesse Winter wrote in a post to Facebook that crews are “out and about today in the snowy weather trying to pickup Monday route garbage & food waste.”

“However some streets or areas may not get done due to poor road conditions,” he added.

In response to one resident’s comment, Winter said when garbage will be picked up if they’re missed today is a “real ‘play by ear’ situation right now” with snowy conditions in the forecast for the rest of the week.

The winter travel advisory that had been in place on Boxing Day was lifted by Drive BC earlier this morning.

Environment Canada has also lifted a snowfall warning that had been in place for the Greater Victoria area over Boxing Day. But snow is still in the forecast for the next three nights, with temperatures remaining below freezing until Thursday, when the high will be one degree Celsius.

Shirley area is not scheduled for garbage and food waste pickup until Jan. 3, 2022.
