Jul 31, 1920 - Mar 6, 2018
Peggy passed away peacefully on March 6th at Ayre Manor. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Gail Abernethy, son in law Andrew Moore and grandson Alex Moore.

Peggy spent her childhood in Woodpecker, south of Prince George, where her family had a farm, general store and post office. As a teen she took a job as an au pair in Victoria so she could attend high school there. Soon after she graduated, war broke out and she joined the Canadian Womens' Army Corps, stationed in Vancouver. She always said that she chose the army over the other services because she thought the uniform was so smart!

In 1952 she married Norman Abernethy and they had three children. Peggy was predeceased by Norman, their daughter Daphne and son Samuel.

Peggy lived for many years in the Okanagan Valley, in Summerland and Penticton and worked in the lab at Penticton Hospital. In 2010 she moved to Sooke.

We are very grateful to the staff at Ayre Manor and to Dr. Jeff Pocock for the excellent care that Peggy received in her last years.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican church in Sooke on Saturday April 7th at 1 pm.
