In Loving Memory ~

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Janina Robinson on Monday, the 9th of October.

Born in the picturesque landscapes of Scotland, Janina embarked on a journey that would lead her to touch the lives of many in Canada. Janina, along with her two devoted sons, Bradley and Sterling, made their home in beautiful British Columbia. Here, she welcomed her daughter Tara and youngest son Sean, forming a close-knit family.

Alongside her mother, May Kerr, she co-founded the beloved Fine Fare Deli in Sooke, where their warm hospitality and culinary talents became legendary. Her fondness for fresh peas and tomatoes became the stuff of legend.

The Robinson family extends their apologies to the neighbours in the Golledge Road area of Sooke for any produce that mysteriously disappeared between 1978-1986. In the wake of the profound losses of her mother and second husband in 2001, a beacon of light emerged with the birth of her first grandchild, Makhaila, in 2002. This precious blessing provided the illumination Janina needed during a dark period in her life and, in the circle of life, became the light at the end of her journey with us.

In keeping with her vibrant nature, let us not dwell on sombre moods or the sorrow of goodbyes. Instead, let us raise a glass of sparkle and toast to the incredible life of Janina.

She will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of light and love. It's not goodbye, it's see you later.

Janina leaves behind her children Bradley, Sterling, Tara and Sean, her grandchildren Makhaila, Lauren, Grace, Jacqueline, Lilian, Polly and Aiden.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, October 29 from 5-7 at the Sooke Legion.
