Leslie Gwendolen Matthews (nee Lovett) of Sooke, passed away January 6, 2019 at VGH. She is survived by her daughter Susan Behan, son Kevin Matthews (Donna), brother Eric Lovett (Sue), nephew Jeremy, niece Fiona, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Leslie was born in England, moving to Calgary with her husband Peter and two young children in 1959. Leslie had lived in Sooke since 2007, loving the natural surroundings and taking part in hiking groups, the Sooke Garden Club, volunteering with Sooke Philharmonic, as well as continuing her 60-year association with Girl Guides as part of the local Purple Shores Trefoil Guild.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Sooke Baptist Church 2 pm Saturday, February 23rd. All who knew Leslie are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Leslie's memory to the Alzheimer's Society in Victoria.
