January 3, 2023
In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that the family of Robert (Bob) Speed announces his passing on January 3, 2023 at Victoria General Hospital.
Bob was born to Herbert & Beatrice in Vancouver, B.C. and was the youngest of 7 siblings - 6 brothers and 1 sister. He spent a lot of his younger years in Likely, B.C. and his later years in Vancouver, B.C. where he graduated from Magee High School. Bob met his wife Doreen and were married in 1954. The next year their son Chris was born and then 2 . years later their daughter Robyn arrived. Bob & Doreen lived in Burnaby, B.C. for over 25 years and when Doreen passed away Bob decided to move to Sooke in 2014 to be closer to family. Bob's biggest passion was golf and if he wasn't watching it on TV, he was out on the links giving it his best shot. If anyone had been to his place, they would have seen his putter in the living room where he liked to practice his putting every day. Bob enjoyed his daily walks and was always up for a conversation should he meet anyone along the way.
Bob is survived by his son Chris (Val) of Sooke and daughter Robyn (Dave) of Edmonton, along with 4 grandchildren, Brendon (Megan), Luke (Crystal) Leslie (Brandon) and Zach (Andrea) and 6 great-grandchildren, Ella, Gabe, Jakob, Emily, Isaac and Laurel.
There will be no funeral or celebration of life but please feel free to make a donation in Bob's name to one of your favourite charities in Sooke.
